"Muddy Dash Budds Creek August 2026"

I attended the Muddy Dash Maryland 2026 event expecting a 5K obstacle course with approximately 15 obstacles, as advertised. Unfortunately, what was delivered was nowhere close to that experience.
The course appeared to be only around 3.5K, despite being advertised as a 5K. I was never notified that the course distance had been changed, and the website still represents the event as a 5K.
The biggest disappointment was the obstacle course itself. We were expecting approximately 15 obstacles, but there were only about 6. The obstacles that were there also seemed designed primarily for children rather than adults. For an adult participant paying for a mud obstacle race, the course was extremely underwhelming.
The lack of basic event amenities was equally disappointing:
• No changing tents or designated changing area. After finishing completely soaked and muddy, I had to walk back to my car and change there, with other people around.
• No food trucks or beverage vendors.
• The only drinks available were from water coolers for runners, and the water was warm.
• Spectators had no seating, food, or drinks available for purchase.
• There was no proper finish-line sign or finish area.
• The medals were simply sitting on a table for participants to pick up themselves.
For an organized event with an advertised 5K course and multiple obstacles, I expected a much more professional setup and experience. Instead, the event felt extremely bare-bones and cheaply organized.
I understand that events can have unexpected changes, but the problem here is that participants were not informed about significant differences between what was advertised and what was actually provided. The website still advertises the 5K and approximately 15 obstacles, which makes the experience even more frustrating.
I've participated in other obstacle and mud runs, and I don't expect everything to be perfect. I do expect the event to reasonably deliver what was advertised and provide basic amenities for participants and spectators.
Unfortunately, this was such a disappointing experience that I will not participate in another Muddy Dash event. I hope the organizers take this feedback seriously and make significant improvements—or, at the very least, accurately advertise what participants are actually paying for.

"Disappointed"

After doing the mud run twice I found out that I can bring my husband and my son to the Muddy Dash– we signed up thinking it would be similar. They said that it was going to be a 5K obstacle course just like mud run but we finished it in 20 minutes. It can't be more than 1 mile give or take. The first two obstacle was climbing over a fence then you swung over a puddle of water.t was approximately 1.3 mi give or take. But it wasn't the very first obstacle was climbing over a fence But it wasn't the very first obstacle was climbing over a fence then you swing over a puddle of water. This was the most exciting obstacle the rest of the obstacles felt like all I was doing was climbing up hills and jumping into a puddle of water. It wasn't planned very well. For example, they stated that there would be juice at the end of the run for runners which wasn't there. They stated that there would be food trucks that wasn't there. Then after you were done running there are only two hoses to clean yourself off with and 50 people waiting to use the two hoses. I will never do muddy – again

"Kind of a confusing visit"
It was way too packed when I went, and the staff seemed like they weren’t really sure what was going on most of the time?? Just felt a bit chaotic overall.

"Decent Overall, Just Needed a Bit More Restocking"
It was clean enough when I stopped in, which I appreciated because I was just passing through and didn’t really have a lot of time to look for somewhere else. The main thing I noticed was that the toilets could’ve been better stocked, especially with basics like paper and soap. Not a bad experience overall, just something that would make it feel a bit more taken care of

"Super easy registration"
Signing up for Muddy Dash was way easier than I expected. The website loaded without any issues, the steps were clear, and I didn’t have to keep going back to fix little mistakes, which is always one of those preventable headaches with online registrations. My confirmation email came through quickly too. Overall, it only took a few minutes and was a good experience.

"Parking was such a mess"
The event itself was okay, but wowww, the parking situation was super frustrating. The signs weren’t clear at all, and we ended up walking way farther from the car than we expected. Getting out afterward took foreeeever too. The staff did try to help, but it just felt really badly organized overall

"Better than I expected"
I got this sometime last month, or maybe the end of the month before, I can’t remember exactly, but I was surprised by how nice it was. The shirt feels way better than I expected, and the medal has a good weight to it too. Happy with it overall.

"Mostly Felt Safe Overall"
I felt mostly safe while I was there, which is what mattered most to me. There were a few spots that got crowded, but I guess that’s kind of expected in a popular place, so I can’t really hold it against them too much...

"Fun day, but the difficulty was all over the place"
Did Muddy Dash with a few friends it was a fun time overall. We were laughing a lot and the whole muddy chaos part was great. That said, the difficulty felt kind of random. Some sections were so easy we just breezed through them, and then suddenly there was an obstacle that felt way harder than anything else there. I’m all for a challenge, but it would’ve been nice if it felt more balanced or if they explained what to expect before signing up. Still glad I went, but I’m not exactly dying to do it again anytime soon.

"Easy fun for the kids"
The kids loved it, that was good enough for me. I didn’t have the energy to plan anything complicated that day, so I was happy this kept them entertained without much effort. Simple, easy fun.

"They took a little longer to…"
They took a little longer to reply than I expected, which had me a bit worried at first. But once they got back to me, they were helpful and sorted out the issue with my order. I would’ve just appreciated a quicker update so I knew everything was being taken care of.

"Fun muddy day, just wish the lines moved faster"
Did Muddy Dash with a few friends and we had a good time overall. Compared to other obstacle runs I’ve done, the course itself was solid and fun, but the wait times were definitely longer than expected. Check-in took a while, and then we had to stop and wait again before a few obstacles, which kind of messed with the flow. The staff were friendly, so no complaints there, it just felt like they needed more people helping out. I’d probably do it again, especially if they get the timing and lines a bit more organized.

"Clear updates and no hassle"
I was really happy with how well they kept me in the loop. The emails were clear, and I always knew what was going on without having to chase anyone up, which just makes sense when you’re using a service like this. Communication was quick and easy, and it made the whole process feel stress-free. I’d definitely use muddydash again.

"Not bad, just not quite for me"
It was okay overall, but a little disappointing compared to what I was expecting. There were a few things I liked, and it wasn’t a total miss, but I probably wouldn’t go out of my way to get it again.

"A muddy Saturday well spent"
I did Muddy Dash last weekend with a few friends, it ended up being way more fun than I expected. At first I thought it might feel intense, but once we hit the mud a few minutes in, everyone just started laughing and stopped taking it too seriously. By the halfway point, we were completely covered and having the best time. I was definitely tired by the end of the day, but it was that good kind of tired where you’re still smiling about it later. I’d absolutely do it again.

"Everything was really well organized, which was…"
Everything was really well organized, which was a relief because I hadn’t planned very well on my end. I was kind of expecting some stress because I’m usually running behind or overthinking things, but it all went smoothly and I didn’t have to worry at all.

"Fun in spots, but I expected safer, sturdier obstacles"
I had an okay time overall, and some of the obstacles were actually fun, but a lot of it felt a bit thrown together. A few things seemed loose or easy to just skip, which made me a little cautious because I didn’t want to risk getting hurt on something that didn’t feel solid. The mud sections ended up being more fun than the actual challenges. For the price, I expected the course to feel better built and more carefully set up. Not the worst day out, but definitely a little disappointing.

"Refund sorted faster than expected"
I had to cancel at the last minute and was fully expecting it to turn into a whole thing, but support got back to me quickly and the refund went through without any weird back and forth. I’ll be honest, I’ve usually stuck with another brand out of habit, so I wasn’t sure how this would go, but this was painless and definitely made me rethink that a bit.
